Great Reno Balloon Race - Day 1

I am so excited to be here in Reno, NV for the Great Reno Balloon Race! Seriously...I used to drive from Sacramento to Salt Lake and see billboards for this event and it has just never worked out to be in the area in September until...this year! Right here, right now!

The Tic Toc balloon laying out and ready to inflate
Marilyn got her balloon up fast - as she usually does!

Time for some selfie shots while we wait for our assignment on how we can help

National Anthem was sung by a small choir to the flags on these two balloons

Snapped a few pics while we waited for our turn to inflate

We were crewing for Don and Laurie Spencer and their balloon Tic Toc. Laurie snagged us from the volunteer area and we followed her across the field to their special shape balloon. We have never crewed for a special shape balloon before!

By the time we got over there, the balloon was laid out across the ground so a lot of the hard work was done. I guess the other hard work is getting it inflated and up in the air safely. These two ladies were helping hold the mouth of the balloon open while Tony & I tried to man the fans. Yes, 2 fans to fill this balloon with enough air in a good matter of time.

Tic Toc's insides.

There were over 80+ balloons on the field this morning. Woohoo!

We could only help set up, we could not crew for the whole morning because Tony had to get back to our AirBNB to start work. But I think we managed to see a lot and have a good experience. Looking forward to helping set up, chase and take down whatever balloons we crew for on Saturday and Sunday.
