Temecula Balloon & Wine Festival - Day 1

I've heard about the Balloon & Wine Festival in Temecula for a few years now and I've always wanted to go. Esp because it's held right by Lake Skinner - my namesake! Haha...and I just thought it would be cool to go somewhere with my name attached to it. So...finally it worked out to take a trip down there for the weekend. It's about 3 hours away, so not too bad. We had just painted the teardrop camper 2 days earlier and it was ready for another trip out.

We made it! Super late in the evening but luckily we were able to get the gate code and let ourselves in. Finding the camp spot was another story and added a lot more extra time.

We woke up to fog in the morning! Super rare for here apparently. The last few years of the festival have been sunny and HOT.

Some morning picture fun while we waited to get started. We were there to help our friend Kim with doing tethered rides. Set up the balloon, get people in and out of the basket in an orderly fashion and make sure things run smoothly. This is not our first rodeo with helping her and it's nice to know what to expect and how she runs things.

Gotta love an early morning selfie - no make-up. Ha.

Happy to be at a balloon festival again. It's been a bit!

We were craving Peruvian food and luckily Temecula had a Peruvian restaurant!
We got Lomo Saltado (a favorite) and this appetizer which is potatoes with yellow sauce on a leaf of lettuce. The appetizer was Peruvian Corn which we have had in the past but we don't get it at every meal we order. Last time we had Peruvian food, we got breadsticks as an appetizer! That's never happened before.

Spending some time in the afternoon back at the campsite - Dock 2 - at Skinner Lake. YeAH!

Then it was time for the night glow. If you can see the concert stage in the picture, there was music going on, quite loud, until the balloons were ready to inflate. Then there was just a DJ playing some songs after that I believe.

We helped the Bimbo Bread people with their balloon. They were really nice to crew for.

Since it was practically Tony's birthday month and he does soo much for me around the house, fixing things, working on things, I treated him to some ribs for dinner. He was quite happy. Then we went back to the campsite and went to bed, We were so tired since we had gotten in pretty late the night before and started waking up at 5:15 or so to get ready for the early morning flights/tethering.
