I flew in to LAX on Saturday morning and the wedding we were attending was not until 5pm. I had heard about the tar pits in the past but we had never been able to go. Finally it worked out that we were able to check this place out so here's what we saw!
Real quick - it's a good place for hunting Pokemon if you are in to that game :)
There is a real life excavation site happening right now!
You could pull up on the handle for this and see how hard it was to do depending on the size/mass of the metal piece
You could walk around outside for free and then to go inside was $12/adult and you could walk around the perimeter and see displays and lots of interesting things like what's been pulled out of the tar pits. Shells, skeletons and more.
This is a place I'd come to visit again. Outside was very interesting to see and read about and I liked that you could do that for free. You don't have to go into the museum however there is a smash penny machine inside if you are liking to do that kind of thing.
