Mesquite Balloon Festival - Day 1

Tony and I have never taken the opportunity to go to Mesquite, NV for their hot air balloon festival but 2019 was the year we made it happen. Woohoo! Our first balloon event to kick off the new year and it went oh so well.

We arrived at our Couchsurfing host's house in the evening on Thursday night and we were only about 10 minutes or so away from the launch area. Happy that the balloons were not set to inflate until 7:30am which meant a little bit of sleeping in for us. Usually, we have to be up and out as early as 6 or 6:30am!

After helping Sandy and Keith get their balloon up in the air, I jumped in the truck to be part of the chase crew with Keith and a few other people

Fun seeing the balloons so close to the road

Riding back seat - ready to jump out and help at a moment's notice.
This is the job of the chase crew.

Hi Mr. Humpty Dumpty!

It was such a great morning for ballooning. I think there were about 30 balloons at this event, makes for a fun time and lots of good pictures!
