Part 2 - The San Diego Zoo

It was quite the fun experience to be able to go to the San Diego zoo. We also ended up saving a lot of money by having Tony's aunt and dad in wheelchairs. They got senior discounts and so did Tony's mom but since Tony and I were pushing the wheelchairs, we got in for free. Plus there was a great handicap shuttle bus that helped so we didnt have to push the wheelchairs up any really steep hills. Win-win.

Cool totems when we were walking around made for the perfect photo op moment

There were many koalas but most of the time their backs were too us and they were sitting up high under their misting fans. Luckily I was able to catch the side of this one in progress of having a snack. So cute!

Condor - it was neat to see them flying around. There were 3 in this area.

The flamingos put on a fun show all of their own

This tree on the left had tons of pokey thorns coming out from the trunk. I've never seen anything like it

Another time I regretted not having my Canon camera with me - this meerkat was on top of a jack o lantern and stood there like a statue for quite awhile!

We ate lunch in this area, not far from the koalas

You can kind of see the head of a koala there in the picture on the left. Again, wish I had the good camera and also the sun was kind of in a hard spot to get good lighting. But, do what you can!

Kangaroos and porcupines - so crazy to see these in real life!

Before we left we road the skylift up over the park. Lots of trees. Saw a few animals and lots of tops of buildings and people's heads. Saw a gorilla, that was neat! All in all a fun but hot day at the zoo. Who knew it could get to the 90's and over 100 at the end of October in southern CA?!
